Peak Sweden
PEAK was introduced into the Swedish city of Nacka in the fall of 2000. Since then, PEAK has been taught to 14 – 16 year-old students as part of their science curriculum. In 2005 the program expanded to include younger children.
In 2003, new teachers visited California schools to learn how PEAK is taught in classrooms in the United States. Since then, annual PEAK exchanges have been held in both countries. In 2005, PEAK expanded to the City of Gothenburg. By 2007, PEAK grew to include 12 new schools in Nacka. To date, there are approximately 2,000 Swedish students receiving PEAK education.
In Sweden, PEAK is funded through tax money allocated for environmental programs. The current Swedish government is environmentally conscious and PEAK is included as part of their sustainable development education.
More information about PEAK in Sweden can be found on their website.
