Peak PlusPeak Plus

PEAK Plus is a two-year pilot project of The Energy Coalition and Southern California Edison to measure the effect of education and pricing incentives on household electricity usage. PEAK Plus will utilize the PEAK Student Energy Actions program to examine the effect of education. PEAK Plus adds a financial incentive for PEAK families to implement the educational concepts at home. The families of both PEAK and non-PEAK students are offered a potential credit on their monthly bills for reducing electricity usage during high demand times on designated days. These households will then be compared, and measured against households not receiving a pricing incentive.

The Energy Coalition is specifically interested in the energy usage patterns of households with children participating in the PEAK program at school. It is expected that the data gathered will support the value of PEAK in creating positive energy efficient and demand response behaviors and substantiate the importance of energy education to reduce California’s energy demand.

PEAK Plus will involve close to 500 families in the Community Energy Partnership cities of Irvine, Palm Desert, Moreno Valley, Santa Clarita, Santa Monica, Brea and San Bernardino.
