The Palm Desert Energy Partnership is a groundbreaking project seeking to achieve efficiency and peak demand energy savings of 30% in the City of Palm Desert by 2011. The project partners are Southern California Edison, Southern California Gas Company, theCity of Palm Desert and The Energy Coalition. The project’s goals are above and beyond any city-wide energy goals previously attempted in the State of California.
The project is unique for several reasons:
It seeks to achieve the goals of the California State Energy Action Plan on a local level
Creates a model of utility-city partnership to be used state-wide
Has received unprecedented support and funding from the California Public Utility Commission to expand existing utility programs
It seeks to incorporate and provide Palm Desert residents and businesses with a comprehensive suite of energy savings programs, rebates, cash incentives and educational outreach to drastically reduce electricity and natural gas consumption and peak electric demand
Groundbreaking collaboration is being achieved to implement the program and establish replicable program plans and strategies
Packages energy efficiency, demand response, and renewable generation programs exclusively to meet the needs of Palm Desert under a distinctive marketing campaign, Set to Save
