Energy Education & Outreach
The CEP hosts workshops with organizations like various Chambers of Commerce to educate small business owners on ways to save energy and money. At these workshops, we distribute energy efficient technologies, provide information on applicable utility programs, and promote our free Small Business Energy Efficiency Tune-Ups.
Small Business Energy Efficiency Tune-Ups
We provide no cost energy upgrades through our Small Business Energy Efficiency Tune-Ups, worth up to $500 (including materials and labor), to a limited number of small businesses in our partner cities. Tune-Ups deliver immediate gas and electric savings through the direct installation of products such as energy efficient fluorescent lighting, weather stripping, low-flow faucet aerators and energy-saving LED exit signs.
Benefits include: saving energy, saving money, increased comfort, reducing peak energy demand, and reducing green house gas emissions.
The Small Business Energy Efficiency Tune-Ups are a 3 step process:
- Assessment – Licensed contractors perform a thorough assessment of the business to identify efficiency upgrades and/or replacements
- Tune-Up – Contractors install identified measures
- Flag for Further Savings – The participant receives educational tools to help manage their energy use more wisely with the direct help of contractors, who identify additional savings opportunities and direct consumers to other utility programs they may qualify for
